Job Projections and Career Program Planning Workshop

 The workshop is designed to help you better respond to CTE grant and program development needs using your own region’s job data, local company names and sizes and your immediate educational competitors.  The workshop is co-sponsored by the San Mateo County Community College District, the Bay Area Community College Consortium, the San Mateo County WIB and EMSI (Economic Modeling Specialist Inc.).

 Attendees will learn to:

1.     Obtain accurate numbers of current and projected jobs and related salary info for your region
2      Gather jobs by companies located in and around your service area
3.      Match graduates from your colleges’ programs to the jobs available
4.       Identify your competitors
5.       Provide career transition counseling
 
Attendees will also receive:
 

  1. Hands-on practice using the “live” EMSI database guided by the instructor
  2. Customized reports of Program LMI Analysis and Regional Scan and Program Demand Report
  3. Actual job projection data for your service area (by county or other ways) for 2010 to 2012
  4. Demonstration of San Mateo CCCD use of job data and opportunity to meet the people behind it: (http://www.smccd.edu/careers)

Event Details

Participation:     Colleges are encouraged to send a team of a CTE dean and faculty, and a researcher.
                                Space is limited to 40.
Registration:      Please complete the registration form and submit as indicated
Time:                     9am -2pm (breakfast and lunch provided)
Date:                     Friday, June 25, 2010
Cost:                      $50 per person (A stipend of $50 is provided to one CTE faculty per college in the form of workshop fee waiver if a team is present)Check only.  See registration form for details.
Location:              Building 2, Room 2117A, Skyline College, 3300 College Dr. San Bruno, CA 94066. Skyline is accessible to SFO, Highways 280 and 101 and 15 minutes south of San Francisco.
